In this article will be going into the subject of Money and Time Management as it pertains to winning at online slot machine games and any other serious endeavor. In my last two articles I outlined how to understand the workings of a slot game and what it takes to mount a few strategies to beat the online casinos at their own games of slots. Now I would like to bring to the forefront the more mundane aspect of budgeting your time and money as you are putting these two aspects into practice. But this can be looked at from a very interesting angle.

Until we have proven that we can manage a system that can win at slot games consistently, we better be conservative in our playing. There are two things we need to conserve in our online casino slot game strategy. These are time and money. Both are just as important. We all have our own cash flow profile. So you are going to need to make a budget that fits your own capacities. There is no way I could give a money figure for a slot game system budget and have it fit all players. Perhaps a good amount is better stated in percentages of income rather than gross amounts. Five percent is a conservative amount to set aside for having fun. But again this depends on your family situation. A person with no dependence might be able to make available twice that figure for slot machine games. This is because all of the fun money gets to be spent on just one person.

In regards to budgeting time for online slot games, again this is a very personal thing. An hour a day would be a good time amount to just through out to the general audience. But you must understand that there are many things in our lives that are subconsciously used to avoid real important issues that are tedious or unpleasant for us to face. So again I strongly urge my readers to develop an internal aspect of their lives that can do a better job at seeing the “Big Picture”. If you are just playing slot games for free and think you are off the “responsibility hook” think again. Spending too much time spinning can leave certain loved ones, or important job issues neglected.

When we are dealing with aspects in our life that could become addictive such as gambling, we need to somehow have a self “Watcher” in place. This is a skill that needs to be developed little by little. There are many things that our conscious mind and even our subconscious mind cannot see clearly. There is one other aspect of our personality that exist besides the conscious and unconscious mind. That is our higher self or our Delta wave patterns. To connect with our Delta wave patterns and have a door open to “him” is tricky business. It is a life long process that is paramount for a happy life on and off line. There are a number of great sources of information out there that describe this better than I. May I suggest Googling the leading Human Behaviorist, Ken Wilber for some insightful reading? He maintains a well-balanced dialogue firmly planted in modern science and prominent Universities studies. Ken is fascinating reading with an inspired mix of brain wave patterns and ancient wisdom.

Our conscious thoughts are dominated by two highly vibratory wave pattern called Beta and Alpha waves. When we are in an Alpha state we are using logic and are in a relaxed surface type of communication with everything around us. When we are playing a slot game and things get a bit exciting we might not be able to have a clear panorama of the situation. A much lower but strong vibratory wave length called Delta is a state of consciousness that is more connected to a nourishing place in our human collective lives. It is this state of mind that we need to depend on for clear vision. Keeping this channel open through out our daily lives will lead us into harmony and abundance. You might want to call it the “Watcher”. Normally this type of mind activity is buried by our Alpha wave patterns. The logic of the Alpha brain wave state is not a “bad guy”. It landed us on the moon, to keeps our job going and generally let’s us function in a logical way with everyone around us. But Big A doesn’t have the big picture and can be easily duped. Logic and conscious thought chops up our existence in tiny pieces and deals with them one at a time. It is exhausting. Because they are tiny pieces they can be managed. This is a good thing and that is why we have this type of brain activity. But because they are tiny pieces the big picture is lost. So get connected and have fun. The Delta state will help you with this. To win at slot games you must balance out your mind between the Alphas of the conscious, the Thetas of the subconscious and the watcher who has these real long Delta wave lengths that care more force than all the others combined. He is the real dude.

Now that we have seen how the major casino stock stands, it is time to look into online gaming. But here we are faced with a greater diversity of industries: there are some betting and gaming companies that have gone public, such as Party Poker, Paradise Poker and Empire Poker; then there are the software providers, such as Cryptologic and Wagerlogic; and there are other service providers whose fortunes are tied to the gaming market, including payment processors such as Neteller.

Party Poker (or rather its parent company, Party Gaming) is traded in the London Stock Exchange (LSE) as PRTY since June 2005. Party Poker’s shares rose 11% on the first day of trading, and after its large and successful IPO (initial public offering) it was reported by The Guardian as “worth more than some of the oldest and most famous names in British business, notably Sainsbury’s, EMI, Rolls-Royce, British Airways, ICI and ITV.”

This is not surprising if you consider that Party Poker has on several occasions accounted for more than half of the world poker market , and that its estimated profit for 2008 – even after the withdrawal of US customers – is upwards of 29.6 million pounds (around $60 million), with a total revenue of 235.52 million pounds (around $500 million.) The estimated profit for next year is even more ambitious, as the analysts expect revenue to reach 291.27 million pounds (about $600 million) in 2009.

At the time of writing, these were the most important stats for PRTY, which is going for a very accessible 27 pence (about $0.60,) and is expected to grow back slowly but surely in the next year.

And as we had discussed previously, the risk measurements for Party are as follows:

Alpha: 0.0265

Beta: 1.2942

Remember the Alpha measures the difference between a stock’s performance and what was expected of it, and a positive Alpha means the stock outperformed the analysts’ predictions (in this case by 2.65%.) The Beta compares a stock’s volatility with the market’s volatility, where the market is always 1, so a positive Beta means the stock is prone to vary more than the market ( in this case by 29.42 %.)

After looking in detail into Party Gaming stock, you may want to a quick peek at other publicly traded poker rooms.

- Paradise Poker is operated by Sportingbet, a British company traded on the LSE as SBT.L, and Sportingbet’s share prices almost tripled their value after the acquisition of Paradise Poker. After the passing of UIGEA Sportingbet shares took a big hit, but they migrated to the Boss Media Network and continue to do poker business with non-US customers. At the time of writing this, the price of a share is 42 British pence (about $0.90.)

- Ladbrokes poker is part of the Ladbrokes gaming company, which includes a casino and the well-known Ladbrokes bookmaker, the largest in the world. The Ladbrokes group was formerly known as the Hilton Group (of hotel fame), which traded in the LSE with the symbol HG.L, but in 2006 it disposed of the hotels division to focus on gaming, and it now trades as LAD.L. The price of LAD.L as we write this is £3.07 (about $6.50.)

- WPT Enterprises produces and televises the World Poker Tour, a very popular series of televised high stakes tournaments which generate most of the WPTE’s revenue, and since 2005 they also have an online poker website, which is not accessible to US residents. WPT stock is traded in Nasdaq as WPTE, and it is currently priced at $1.16.

While playing online slot playing is a game of chance as we have seen in part 1 of this essay there are certain ways to maximize your winnings.

Here is a 10 point guide to playing online slots and increasing your chances of winning the jackpot.

1. Emotions!

Slots are simple, fun and easy to play and it’s easy to get carried away

It is therefore very important in playing any game with a house edge to have some money control.

When playing online slots its imperative you need to set a bank roll you can afford to lose for each session.

When the session is over that’s it you walk away. Don’t chase losses.

2. Don’t Play Full Coin Unless You Need To

Don’t play full coin on machines that are “equal distribution” or “straight multipliers.”

If you look across the highest pay line and see something like: 100 coins for one coin; 200 coins for two coins; 300 coins for three coins.

You need to be aware that adding extra coins to that first one does not get you anything extra.

You are simply playing two times as much to win two times as much.

3. Maximum Coins on Progressives

You have to play maximum coins on a progressive machine to be able to win the progressive jackpot and that’s the only reason your really playing these online slot machines.

If you don’t play maximum coins, you’re just building the jackpot for another player with no chance to win it yourself.

4. Machines are hot and cold

Don’t believe the common held belief that slot machines are hot or cold and that if you can figure out these streaks you can beat the machine – you can’t.

In hindsight, you can the winning and losing cycles, which are the result of the random nature of the game, and cycles are only visible once they have been.

5. Slot Systems

Don’t try them! They don’t work. Playing online slots is totally random and the previous history of reels payouts etc is to. You cannot use a system on a random game of chance – Period!

6. Play Machines You’re Comfortable With

Pick a machine you really enjoy playing and then play that machine for maximum payout possible.

If you like the idea of huge jackpots, then play progressives.

If, on the other hand if, you want a chance to have fun and win smaller amounts, your best bet would be playing one coin machines and having some fun.

Just go with a machine your comfortable with.

7. Check the Payout Table

Read the directions on the multi-line games carefully to maximize your payout.

When playing these online slot machines each coin opens up new lines and/or symbols that can see what it is you want to win and then make sure you play number of coins to win the payback your are happy with.

8. Play Higher Denominations

If you can afford it, you may consider going to larger denominations, say to a single one-dollar coin. When playing online slot machines the higher the denomination, the better the payback.

9. The House Edge Take Profits

Slot machines have a larger house edge than other casino games and you need to keep this in mind.

While winning is the aim when playing online slot machines, over the long run it will cost you money to play as the odds are stacked against you.

If you are lucky enough to hit the jackpot bank the majority or all of your winnings and count your blessings.

In any session if you are a good way ahead it’s an idea to bank and walk away.

10. Have Fun

If you play online slots machines make sure you enjoy them and have fun expect to lose but also be prepared to win! Imagine walking away with a million jackpot.
